about

These tracks are a selection of what I recorded during one year, between December 2019 and December 2020.
At the end of 2019 I had started to work on a solo project with some old and new compositions arranged for a one-man-band configuration, comprising electric pianos, synthesizers and sequencers. A real-time set with no post-production. The arrangments were growing well when all of a sudden our lifes changed under the unexpected covid storm. The sense of what I was doing with my music began to get confused. In this dense fog of the soul every now and then few glimpses of lucidity would emerge during which I would manage to play, compose, improvise and arrange trying to follow that pre-covid thread of musical sense that, on the other hand, was becoming more and more tenuous and elusive in this new social, economic and existential context. Three years later, listening to the material recorded during that period, I realized that, once again, the time had come to share some of that interrupted investigation; for perhaps the meaning of the music we write and/or improvise lies in nothing other than its own sharing with our peers.

Technical notes:
Odd tracks are compositions. Compositions in the form of jazz or, broadly speaking, modern music; meaning the score is written on one pentagram with the melody and modern chord symbols over the melody. So composition here means the basic melodic and harmonic structure on which improvisation is developed. Unlike free improvisation where somehow these same melodic, harmonic, rytmical and timbrical structures are improvised and created in the moment.
All the compositions presented here were written down in their final form before 2020 (the oldest, Long Log, is from 2012).
Even tracks are pure free improvisations.

With respect to the title, it literally appeared to me in this form while waking up from a dream. In the days following this dreamlike apparition I tried to investigate its meaning on a rational, conscious level without arriving at any definitive answers. But with the certainty that it was the right title for this record.
